Getting the backup tapes from the data center to the offsite facility should use something sturdier than a cardboard box or paper sack. As tapes increase in density, so does the amount of data and the value of the information stored on them. Tape cartridges that are broken after being dropped or even crushed from stacking something heavy on top of them may or may not be recoverable.
